Hello and Welcome!

We are the Kelch’s, Erica and Mike, and we are setting out tonight for our “trip around the world”.  We set up this blog to write along the way to help us remember everything we plan to see, but also to share with our family and friends.

How is this possible?

Good question…a fortunate series of events afforded us the opportunity to take a month off while we transition from our current home city of Chicago down to Mike’s hometown area of St. Louis.  A new job and chapter in our lives awaits us upon arrival in St. Louis, but while we have the time, we decided to literally circle the globe and see as much of the world as we can.

Where are we going?

We take off tonight for the first stop on our 7 country, 2 continent, 6 currencies, both hemispheres, and multiple time zone trip for Munich, Germany!  We land in Munich on Mike’s birthday [35, old enough to jump in presidential race as last min candidate?? (insert laugh track)] for Oktoberfest and experiencing German culture.  From there we will take a train through the mountains to Venice, then fly to Dubai, Bali, Singapore, Thailand, and Tokyo.  This is almost a 4 week venture and we couldn’t be more excited to experience the different cultures and lifestyles across the globe.
